Armonk Wines teams up With The Pinwheel Project

The pinwheel project is a 501(c)(3) charity that is devoted to providing comfort and support to hospitalized children and their families. All of their services are offered at no cost to the patients, their families, or the participating hospital. Through the months of April – June, Armonk Wines and Spirits is proud to partner in this effort by donating $2.00 for every bottle of selected wines purchased.

Recently at Armonk Wine & Spirits, we have been making quite a few changes to the store. We are installing reclaimed hardwood floors, a beautiful tin ceiling, new cabinetry, and energy-efficient lighting in order to create an attractive new look. The renovations will also allow for more floor-space, thereby making it easier for our customers to find exactly what they are looking for. Expect to see the finished look in just a couple weeks! In the meantime, the store will remain open during construction. Take a look at the pictures we have of the progress thus far…

Armonk Wines will have its doors open for Frosty the Snowman Festival on Saturday, December 10th.

Come in and sample a “Frosty Cocktail” made with Brooklyn Vodka, or try Francois Seconde’s Champagne (the only recoltant-manipulant in the town of Sillery, Champagne). Armonk Wines will be tasting these holiday delights from 4pm to 7pm.

- hearty and delicious red from Almansa (Spain) Atalaya 2007 $14.49 (tasting price)

91 points from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate: “This is the first release of Atalaya. The 2007 Atalaya is a blend of Monastrell, Garnacha Tintorera, and other red grapes. The wine was aged for eight months in French and American oak. This purple-colored wine has an expressive bouquet of violets, spice box, leather, game, blueberry, and black cherry. On the palate it comes off as borderline kinky and definitely sexy with lots of easy-going flavor, superb depth, complexity, and a 45-second finish.”

First In-Store Tasting

Saturday October 22nd.

We will be tasting the following two wines:

1. From Italy - Dolcetto d’Alba “Vilot” Ca’ Viola 2008 is a very lively unaltered (no oak or filtration) mouth watering expression of Dolcetto. Enjoy this wine with simple fresh pasta, antipasto, or a rustic pizza.

2. From France - Trimbach Riesling 2009 is a classic dry Riesling from Alsace that pairs well with traditional holiday fare such a turkey and ham.
